The Victorian era was an era of open flame and flammable materials and nearly every great city suffered from a great conflagration. This richly illustrated presentation explains the era’s preoccupation with fire and takes you along the path of the great Cape May fire of 1878. Students can relive the battle to save the town, block by block.
