Cape May Walking Tours
For history up close and personal, nothing beats a walking tour. A number of different tours are available.
Historic District Walking Tour: This tour gives students a perspective on life in the Victorian era and helps them learn about and understand their heritage and built environment. Tour takes approximately 1½ hours.
Architectural Walking Tour: This tour focuses on the major elements of Victorian architectural style and lasts about 60 minutes.
Cape May on Fire: Fire Chief Lansing (a living history character) is your guide on this tour, which follows the path of the great fire of 1878, with students reliving the battle to save the town, block by block. Tour takes about 60 minutes.
Fisherman’s Wharf Tour: Students tour the Lobster House dock and fish packing plant, for a glimpse into today’s commercial fishing industry. Tour lasts about 45 minutes.
