What is the 2020 Society?
In anticipation of MAC’s 50th anniversary in 2020, the MAC Board has founded a new fund to help propel us into our second half-century of service- the 2020 Society. Our goal is to raise $100,000 a year for the next five years to create a $1/2 million board-designated fund to help MAC seize the opportunities and meet the challenges that lie ahead.
MAC's Enduring Legacy to the Cape May area includes:
Bringing the arts and history alive for children through outreach and education programs;
Providing programming and events that make Cape May a year-round destination;
Restoring, preserving and interpreting the Emlen Physick Estate, the Cape May Lighthouse, and the World War II Lookout Tower;
Bringing world-class music to residents, visitors and students alike, through the Cape May Music Festival!
We invite you to help MAC preserve Cape May's rich cultural and historical heritage. Become a partner with MAC to ensure that Cape May thrives and grows as a cultural tourism destination.

Enjoy today….Plan for tomorrow….
Scarlett O’Hara said “Tomorrow is another day.” Unfortunately, we can’t rely on that philosophy when making decision about our financial futures. Long term financial planning can be intimidating, but whether your estate is large or of more modest means, planning ahead helps you protect your heirs and your assets. If you would like to include the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC) in your long term planning, there is a simple way that you as a Member can create a legacy for the organization for generations to come. You can name MAC as a beneficiary- in your will, retirement plan, insurance policy or on a financial account. It’s simple and has lasting effects. After your lifetime, the asset will come to MAC without going through probate. Your estate and your heirs benefit from this contribution because it is entitled to a charitable deduction for the amount of the gift.
With MAC as a beneficiary of your Will, you can specify some or all of your assets to MAC after your lifetime. After your lifetime, the asset(s) you specify will pass to MAC and your estate can take a charitable deduction for the amount of your bequest.
Retirement fund assets (like your IRA) can be great charitable gifts because of the tax implications to your non-charitable beneficiaries. Your retirement plan benefits you during your retirement. In the event you pass away, you may name MAC a beneficiary for your plan with funds remaining in your account.
MAC also accepts gifts of life insurance, either as the beneficiary of a policy or as the sole owner and sole beneficiary. You can name MAC as primary beneficiary of your life insurance policy or as contingent beneficiary should your other beneficiaries not survive you. After your lifetime, the benefits from your policy pass to MAC free of federal estate tax.
Another way you can include MAC in your estate plan is by designating the organization as the beneficiary of a financial account, including a bank or brokerage account, or an asset, such as a certificate of deposit. All you need to do is complete a beneficiary designation form provided by the financial institution. After your lifetime, the asset passes directly to MAC allowing us to continue our preservation, interpretation and cultural enrichment activities.
MAC has contracted with the Community Foundation of New Jersey to allow us to accept Charitable Gift Annuities. This one- time generous gift offers you an excellent tax write off as well as income for life for you and your spouse. It also provides future income that is mostly tax exempt. Please remember that MAC can receive gifts of securities or highly appreciated assets at full value while protecting the donor from capital gains taxes.
Tomorrow is another day and it will be here before you know it, so plan ahead. For more information about beneficiary designations or to let us know that you’ve named MAC as a beneficiary, please call Senior Outreach Strategist Mary Stewart at 609-224-6049.
